Daystar was formed in 1980, by Andy Sentance (guitar/vocals), Phil Scott (bass/guitar/vocals) and Anne Penfold (vocals). The group performed Christian songs written by Andy and Phil, mainly at All Saints Church, Shooters Hill, with guest appearances from other family members (Phil's wife, Chris, and Andy's sister, Sue Sentance) and by Paul Winslow on saxophone.
This original line-up broke up when Andy and Anne married and moved away from south London. The group was reformed by Andy and Anne (now Anne Sentance) at various times from the late 1980s until the late 2000s, performing in church services and church concerts. Other members of the group over this period include Paul Stallard, Colin Freeman, Lesley Nicholls, Dave and Tab Bettis. Andy and Anne's children, Tim and Rebecca Sentance also performed with Daystar in the 2000s.
